What is CTEF?
China Tomorrow Education Foundation (CTEF) is
a Seattle-based non-profit 501(c)(3) charity, operated primarily by
non-paid volunteers in the US and China. Our mission is to improve the
education in rural China and prepare the children to become responsible
global citizens by renovating schools, establishing libraries,
supporting teachers, funding scholarships, and promoting public
awareness of rural China education conditions.
Founded in 1999
by a small group of Chinese Americans, CTEF has established a network
of volunteers and partnerships with NGOs throughout 13 Chinese provinces
that submit on-going reports documenting what educational assistance is
needed and in which locations. These volunteers and trusted NGO
partners also monitor each project CTEF funded to ensure appropriate
usage of the fund. With this intelligence and through generous
donations, as of July 2009, CTEF has funded 147 school projects that
include constructing and renovating school buildings, establishing
libraries, and providing educational materials to compliment classroom
curriculum.
Within the US, CTEF has grown with the support
from various local communities in Seattle beyond the significant funding
and volunteering help from employees at Microsoft Corporation. In
addition, we’ve received help from employees at Amazon, ARM, Boeing,
Goldman Sachs, Google, Honeywell, Merrill Lynch, and other companies.
With the launch of the online donation program through PayPal in late
2007, CTEF has further extended its reach beyond the Pacific Northwest
and received donations from around the world.

What is the 2014 CTEF Art Contest?
The
2014 CTEF Art Contest is a creative design contest hosted by the Art
Contest Committee and the CTEF Executive board. Each year the contest is
open to children in grades K-12. For the past years, the Art Contest
incorporated themes relating to the mission of CTEF, such as education,
culture, and dreams. The participants designed holiday greeting cards,
LOGOs both in two- and three-dimensions. The entries were judged by a
board of professional art teachers and CTEF Executive Board members
based mainly on reflection of theme, creativity, etc. The prizes for the
past three years included Windows phones and lesson certificates
donated by local art studios, in addition to personalized trophies.
This
year's contest is an art contest with theme "My Dream School",
submitting the entry via email to cards@ctef.org. The drawing should be
focused on the mission and vision of CTEF and what we do as an
organization. It is strongly recommend for participants to visit www.ctef.org to familiar with our cause.
The
judging panel includes local art teachers and two renowned artists,
whose profiles can be found under the Judges section. For more
information on the contest and questions, please visit the Rules and
Guidelines sections.
